What Are The Best Jeff The Land Shark Stories from Marvel Comics?

Jeff the Land Shark’s popularity has grown to new heights following the character’s appearance in the recently released Marvel Rivals video game. For those who want to know more about the pint-sized, adorable hero created by Kelly Thompson and Daniele Di Nicuolo (and further popularized by artists like Guihiru, I’ve got some recommendations for some great stories featuring Jeff that will help you learn more about him, his best pals, and his impact on the Marvel Universe as a whole!

The West Coast Avengers (2018) - Kelly Thompson, Stefano Caselli, Daniele Di Nicuolo, Moy Rodriguez, Gang Hyuk Lim, Triona Farrell and Joe Caramagna

Jeff’s first appearance occurs in issue seven, where Gwenpool decides to keep him after a battle against M.O.D.O.K., who deploys an army of sharks to take on the West Coast Avengers. But don’t skip the first six issues, as it’s a hilarious, action-packed series framed through a reality show diving deeper into relationships of the young team featuring Kate Bishop, America Chavez, Gwenpool, Quinton Quire, and more. With villains like B.R.O.D.O.K. (Bio-Robotic Organism Designed Overwhelmingly for Kissing) and a great, chaotic team dynamic, West Coast Avengers is a blast from start to finish for its entire 10-issue run. It’s a great place to learn about Jeff’s bizarre origins and friendships with Gwen and Kate.

Another recommendation, even if it’s not super Jeff-centric, is Gwenpool Strikes Back! Leah Williams, David Baldeon, Jesus Aburtov, and VC”s Joe Caramagna. Gwen is important to Jeff’s story! Plus, it’s just a great meta-comic that will keep you laughing.

If “Deadpool becomes the King of Monsters” isn’t enough to draw you in, Deadpool features one of my favorite modern unlikely pairings with the titular character and Elsa Bloodstone, with the pair searching for a cure to save the Bloodstone wielder’s deadly curse. Not only is the comic hilarious, but it’s surprisingly tender. Plus, it features Jeff working alongside the Merc with a Mouth!

It’s Jeff Infinity Comic - Kelly Thomspon, Guihuru

The digital Infinity Comic showcases Jeff in some of his silliest and cutest moments. From doing laundry to working on spells with Doctor Strange to Jeff chasing fireflies, It’s Jeff is just Jeff being Jeff with cameos from some of his best friends, including Deadpool, Kate Bishop, and Gwenpool. It doesn’t get much better than Thompson and Guihuru on Jeff. The short adventures are even collected in physical form in their own comic!

Also recommended for digital Jeff content is Infinity Paws by Jason Loo, Nao Fuji, and Jasmine Alvarez, which sees Jeff team up with some other fan-favorite Marvel animals!
